Week 2 Devlog
Week 2 Development.
Evan: For this week, I worked on a couple of scripts and UI. I made it possible for the player to be destroyed in 3D, and made it so that when the player loses, the game over screen will activate. Optionality has been added to either restart or to go to the main menu. The Main menu was also added with basic functionality. On the game over screen, a score counter was added without anything to track currently. We plan to put all of the different aspects together for next week for a more playable prototype.
Peter: This week I simply got the camera to be going at the same speed as the chaser. The camera is actually following the wall behind. This was done so the player feel as if they are within somebody else's game playing around. This means the player can move closer to the camera or further away from the camera depending on the chaser behind. Issues that come with this is I have not organised a way to reset the chaser upon players death so the player will respawn behind the wall and be chased off screen.
Luke: For this week I made a prototype working towards a regenerative tile system, this tile system will create and destroy itself so that there isn't a build-up of game objects in the project. I also put in a simple killzone which destroys the player on trigger enter, and wanted to work towards randomly regenerating obstacles but ran into issues I am still trying to resolve. I also used Peter's inspiration for the camera to set mine up however it still follows the player and not any wall behind them.
