Week 15 Devlog

This was our final week of development.

A lot of time went into finalizing assets for the final level over the last 3 week. We layed out the final level to have a substantial level of difficulty. Another thing that took up a lot of our time was creating transitions for the game. We created still images to tell the story of our game. We also had to work with animation in order to get the characters to look how we wanted. In the end, we had to cut out our audio as there was a major bug that we couldn't fix.  We also finalized menu functionality such as the controls screen and the quit game buttons.

In reflection, looking back on the process of making this game we actually learned a lot. In the beginning we decided on a project that seemed easy to make so that we would have lots of time to flesh out the minor details and polish everything however this turned out not to be the case. Due to the fact that none of us really had any passion for the game, we found it hard to work on, especially on weeks that we had other projects to balance. In retrospect, we would've been better to decide on a game that would have been more challenging to make and it would have been more polished in the long run.

Regardless of that, we did actually learn a lot of technical things from this project. We had to work in areas such as animation and rigging bones etc. that none of us had done previously for 3D games. We also figured out how to solve long standing issues such as lighting errors between scenes and skyboxes not functioning coorrectly etc.

In conclusion, we found this project worthwhile and a good learning experience as we made many mistakes along the way that can be avoided in the future.
